Mykenzie, you have been my best friend since you were born. You have been there for me through it all. For every milestone, you have been right there beside me. We have shared everything together – clothes, shoes, makeup, and tons of memories. Your friendship is one of the most important things in my life, and I am so proud of who you have become.
As you prepare for your wedding, I am so happy that you have found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. As hard as it is for me to believe that you’re getting married, the day is quickly approaching that you will become Josh’s wife. I’ve only been married for a little under 2 years, but I’ve learned a few things along the way that I want you to know.
The wedding is just the beginning. As you know very well, I was actually bridezilla. I wanted everything to be perfect, and everything to go smoothly, as most brides do. But the most important thing at the end of the day is that you are marrying the love of your life. Your wedding is just one day that starts the rest of your life together. Don’t stress it if something isn’t exactly the way you imagined it. Just go with it, and remember why this day is so special.
Don’t waste time fighting over silly things. I’m pretty sure it’s a rule that if you’re a male, you can only put dishes beside the sink, and heaven forbid they put their dirty clothes inside the laundry basket. It’s so easy to fight over the craziest things! But the point is, it accomplishes nothing! All it does is ruin a perfectly good night that you could’ve spent quality time with your husband. It’s so tempting to just say whatever pops into your mind, but I’m telling you, don’t do it! Instead of fussing over those little things, just let it go.
Keep God in the center of it all. This is the most important thing you can do in your marriage. Even though you will have a husband, you can’t rely on him for everything. If you put all of your trust in your husband, it’s not going to work. If you put him first, it’s not going to work. You both have to strive to keep God #1. Now He, is the only one that can hold your marriage together! Love God more than each other, and everything else will fall right into place.
Marriage is hard work, but it is so worth it! I’m praying that the Lord will use you both for His glory, and that His love will shine through your marriage. I’m so excited for your wedding day, and I hope it will be everything you’ve ever dreamed it would be! I love you, and I can’t wait to stand by your side on Saturday.
Beautiful words and great advice, Mykaela. Can’t believe Mykenzie’s wedding is here. Can’t wait to celebrate her big day!!
Love you!!
