A Season of Gratitude

The holidays are quickly approaching, and I am so excited! It is truly my favorite time of the year, and always has been. As I’ve gotten older though, a lot of that excitement has shifted to stress, anxiety, and exhaustion. However, this year, I want it to be different. I want to spend this season with my heart and mind set on Jesus, and set on the blessings He has given me. My husband has been preaching a message on “Living in Gratitude” and that’s what I plan to do.

One way I want to show Him my gratitude in this busy season, is by taking the time to appreciate what He has given me. It’s so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of life, and everything we have to do, that we forget to simply dwell in our blessings.

As we embark on this holiday season, I want to be intentional about time with the Lord. In Sunday school this week, my pastor said that when people get busy, their time with the Lord is the first thing to go… and oh my, how true it is. I pray I don’t get so busy that I forget to make Him my priority. I pray that in everything I do, I honor Him.

My second priority this season is going to be to make more intentional time with my family. I want to have slow, sweet days with them! I want to make new memories, maybe start some new traditions, and enjoy what’s right in front of me.

As I lay down with my babies, and think about all the wonderful things God has done in my life, I can’t help but wonder how I could ever express my gratitude to Him. How can I thank Him?

All my words fall short, I’ve got nothin’ new, How could I express all my gratitude?

The truth is, I’ll never be able to thank Him enough, but I can try. I’m going to express my gratitude this season by intentionally thanking God, and intentionally being with the ones I love. I hope you will do the same.
